Just some random info:
Our parents and puppies are nice quality and have the characteristics a shih tzu should have in our opinion & the looks we love and strive for. We strive for quality with short backs, short legs, small high smooshed in noses, nice tail tucks, babydoll faces, and nice thick full coats.
In most pictures of our parents they will have short hair because I like to keep them trimmed shorter but they have nice long thick coats as well.
It is extremely hard to find nice quality shih tzus nowadays unfortunately. People during covid thought it was "easy money" and just started breeding whatever they got that was cheap not caring about quality or what the characteristics shih tzu are suppose to have along with health etc and have done a lot of damage to the shih tzu breed to where now it is hard to find anything of quality and now people don't know what they are supose to look for and the looks they are suppose to have. So please be very picky who you get your baby from to help preserve the breed and only support breeders that are raising them with love, heart and care the way it is suppose to be. There are always cheaper babies out there but the better the quality they are the more they will cost if you are getting them from a true reputable breeder. A lot of times when you get cheaper babies it is from people that have many many of dogs having babies all the time and that is NOT how it should be and should not be supported. Those are ones that want quantity over quality and that is totally opposite from what we are. So please be careful. The puppies/dogs that are low quality with characteristics they are not suppose to have compare the looks of those and then with ours and you will see what im talking about. If you ever have any questions about a puppy you are getting even from another breeder we are here to help and can let you know my honest opinion. A lot of work and time goes into raising babies a lot more work than one thinks. Many sleepless nights. The saying putting in your all in it and putting your blood, sweat and tears is a light way of saying it. I love what we do and what we have become but it sure didn't come easy but it is oh so worth it. I do not advertise our babies as show quality but to us they are a very nice quality and have characteristics shih tzus are suppose to have and are the absolute sweetest, loving, bubbly little ones you will ever come across.
Our babies can range around 6-9 lbs when full grown. So will be small, short and cobby build & body shape. We *do not* guarantee a specific adult weight for our puppies nor a specific adult color as shih tzus like to change color from babies to adult. Our dogs size ranges are a great size for shih tzus. It is not too big but not to small. The perfect size to be able to carry around easily, get the best snuggles, bathe easy etc. This size is really great for families with kids as well as you do not want a tiny tiny shih tzus with small bones around kids. It also cuts down health risks that super tiny dogs are known to have . This is the size you should aim for.
We do have a deposit contract & a final sales contract. Our deposits are nonrefundable. You get a copy of both a deposit contract if you put a deposit down and a copy the final sales contract in you binder at pick up. If we feel the future home is not a good fit for any reason we have the right to cancel the deposit and will refunded it at that time. When we meet when they are ready to go, you will get a copy of the final sale contract, the puppys vet papers with the vets notes, shot and worming records, a container of science diet food they are eating to get started, a puppy pad, a fun little toy, registration papers if registered, a blanket, a huge binder with lots of info that we go over when we meet and some other things. Our puppies are sold on a spay / neuter contract no breeder homes unless discussed otherwise please :)
What We Feed :
We feed science diet small & petite for both our adults & puppies. We have really liked how much the babies and adults have done on it and they seem to really love it as well. The cost is good not crazy expensive but from what we have heard and researched, the ingredients seem really good as well with lots of nutrients etc... It is easy to find at your local pet stores or online on cheesy etc. Your welcome to switch the puppys food to whatever food your prefer but we have been very happy with science diet.
Puppy pads:
For what we use for puppy pads is actually not puppy pads at all. We use disposable bed pads that are for people that are bed ridden. These are xl ones from walmart in the pharmacy area. In my opinion they are cheaper then regular puppy pads and do not leak like regular puppy pads do. We also have started using the washable dog or people bed pads from amazon etc. Not a specific brand but what we have used we have really liked and all you do is wash them and good to go again. Easy to clean etc. We use those on their play pen area with a disposable one for their main potty area. Our babies do not go outside till they have all or most shots. They are indoors in our home from birth till they go to their new families. When they are born mom and babies stay in my bedroom beside my bed to be able to keep a eye on them at all times during the night etc. Once three weeks old, they will move into the living room where they go into their huge xxl play plan area. It is a huge area with washable carpet and washable pads on top of it with their baby play gym with toys hanging on it along with a lot of loose toys around as well. When little older we will start introducing a crate within their playpen for only night time and when we are not home. Crate training is very important for them to know whether you choose to use one in the future or not. It is good for them to know incase of any emergency situations. So we do start this for them to know what a crate is etc if they are still here at that time. Our parents for our program also know what a crate is and stay in there only at night and when we are not home and free run of the house the rest of the day. We do not let our babies touch the ground inside or outside till they have more shots or all 5 of their shots to be able to keep them as safe and protected as possible from any germs etc. Unfortunately parvo and other illnesses are SUPER easy to bring into your home. Even walking through the store and then walking into your home you can bring it home on your shoes or clothing so i rather be safe then sorry. Our babies are only ever in their play pen area, on the couch or bed with us. We have also gotten a outdoor play area with a huge artificial grass rug that's fenced in for only our babies to be on to have outdoor time on nice days. It sounds a lot but i rather be safe then sorry and our babies health is a huge priority for us. They still have lots of running and playing area. I also strongly advise if you ever get a baby * DO NOT * put the baby down at vets offices always hold them, hold them in pet stores no putting them on the ground or in shopping carts etc and keep them away from areas with lots of foot and dog traffic till they have most or all 5 puppy shots.
